In continuation of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations of The Salwan Education Trust and to revere the secular spirit of India, all the schools at Rajendra Nagar campus along with Salwan Junior Public School celebrated ‘Ibadat-e-Ramadan’ in the Salwan School Grounds on 4th July, 2016.

The chief guest for the occasion was Mr Syed Asif Ibrahim, an Indian diplomat, Former Director of the Intelligence Bureau and an eminent Islamic scholar. The other distinguished guests present on the occasion were Mr Noor Muhummad Ansari, Retd IRS, Imam Mufti Mukkaram Ahmed, religious and literary scholar, Imam and Khateeb (Prayer Leader and Main Speaker) of Shahi Masjid, Fatehpuri, India’s Second largest mosque. Shri R P Singh, Social Worker of the Rajendar Nagar Area, Shri Vijender Garg, MLA and Shri Rajesh Bhatia, Councillor.

Following the welcome address given by the students council, there was a beautiful rendition of ‘Dastangoi’-an ancient art form of storytelling. All the schools under the aegis of the Salwan Education Trust across Delhi and NCR planted 75 saplings at the same time.

In his address, Mr Ibrahim advised the young generation not to be swayed by the wrong interpretation of Islam by foreign bodies; rather believe in the true teachings of Islam which upholds the value love, peace and co-existence.

The programme concluded with an interactive session with the students.
