Talk Show by Kanav Agnihotr

Kanav Agnihotri, the author of “The Adventures of Super Shakaru: The Shark that Flies,” visited our school on July 12th. He engaged students of Classes IV and V in an enlightening talk about the harmful effects of toxic waste in our oceans, which endangers marine life and our planet. Using a toy-based storytelling approach infused with humor, Kanav captivated the young audience and raised their awareness of environmental issues.

Kanav’s storytelling was particularly unique and inspirational, featuring a character named Super Shakaru, a brave shark with supernatural powers. Super Shakaru can fly, breathe outside water, and fights against powerful evil forces and marine debris, ultimately triumphing to save marine life. This imaginative character left a lasting impression on our young Salwanians.

The session concluded with a heartfelt thank you note from our Principal, Sonia Wadhwa. Our Head Boy and Head Girl presented Kanav Agnihotri with a medicinal plant and a handmade painting as tokens of appreciation.

*A Peek into the Classroom: Engaging Activities for Young Minds*

Recently at SJS, parents had the delightful opportunity to step into the vibrant classrooms and witness the engaging activities that shape our students’ day-to-day learning. The visit was filled with moments of joy, discovery, and skill-building.

The day began with a heartwarming prayer session, creating a peaceful and reflective start to our morning. This was followed by the cheerful “Good Morning” song, which brought smiles to the faces of both students and parents.

One of the highlights was the “Body Parts” activity, where children learned to identify and name various parts of their body. This was not only educational but also a fun way to promote physical awareness and their vocabulary. The students also demonstrated their fine motor skills through practical life activities like zipping and buttoning. These tasks, though seemingly simple, play a crucial role in developing independence and coordination in young children.

Rhymes and songs were another engaging part of the day. The children enthusiastically recited and performed, showcasing their memory skills and creativity. The rhythmic patterns and catchy tunes help in language development and rhythm recognition.

A particularly fascinating activity was beading, where children created patterns and designs with colorful beads. This not only enhanced their hand-eye coordination but also allowed them to express their artistic abilities.

Overall, the classroom visit provided parents with a wonderful glimpse into the diverse and enriching experiences their children enjoy every day. The activities not only foster learning but also contribute to the holistic development of our young learners.
