The school hosted a day long Adventure Camp for the Classes Nursery to VI on Friday, 10th March,2023. Around 400 students participated in various adventurous activities, army obstacles, fun-filled games and life skill activities organized by Rocksport’s Adventure Camp, Asia’s largest in-school camping programme. 

Curating an eclectic range of activities, each activity was designed to give students an incredible experience and the opportunity to be challenged and to grow such as zip line, rock climbing, zombing, tug of war, Burma bridge, commando crawl, commando net and rapid run. All these activities allowed them to explore adventure, develop muscle strength and coordination, and gain self-confidence. 

Visit to Pradhan Mantri Sangrahalaya

An educational excursion to Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya and Amrit Udyan for the students of class VI and VII was held. Students had a look at the historical facts of the country and cherished the moments at the Pradhanmantri Sanghralaya. Udyan Utsav at Amrit Udyan was the most memorable experience. Students celebrated the colours of the spring.

The enriching experience was filled with inquisition and knowledge for the students.

Visit to Pratapgarh Farms

As a part of educational excursion, the students of class IX & XI visited Pratapgarh Farms. The excursion helped them to have a better understanding of the wonders and joy of the natural world and ethnic village life of Haryana. 

A mouth-watering cuisine was served starting from “Mazedaar Nasta” to “Shahi Khana” with the taste of Haryana.

This was indeed an exciting and fun- filled experience for the learners as they made memories while having a lot of fun and adventure!

Workshop on Cyber Security

An interactive session on ‘Cyber Safety-the way forward’ was organized for the students of the Classes VI-VIII. Ms. Bhawna Grover, computer teacher enlightened the students about the various dangers that students can encounter due to overexposure to the cyber world.  She also advised the students to lock their Facebook pages and design cryptic passwords in order to protect their accounts on social media. Another common mode of fraud is via the OTP system. One must be careful and check the amount in an OTP while making payments so as not to get cheated by fraudsters. The session was very interactive and many students had queries related to security in their phones and laptops. The interaction provided a lot of useful information.

 

Educational Excursion to National Science Centre

The school organized an educational visit to the National Science Centre on Friday, 10 March 2023 for the students of Class VIII as a part of the process of learning through exploration advocated by National Education Policy 2020.

The visit to NSC gave the students an insight into the world of sciences through experiments, models and simulations ranging across the various fields of science both physical and biological. The students showed a lot of enthusiasm and enjoyed the opportunity to explore sciences beyond textbooks.

Students witnessed different types of equipment and gadgets like energy ball, mixing of liquids, mirror maze, rolling balls and string less musical equipment based on scientific rules and principles in the Fun science gallery. The gadgets are based on the method of Keep It Simple- Make It Fun.

Emerging technologies focused on revolutionary changes, in different fields. Space, information, agriculture etc. Models of space crafts attracted the students.

Students jotted down all the important points and shared their experiences and learning among them while returning to the school.

Mind, Body And Soul Sessions For Classes I To VIII

“Education must contribute to the all-round development of each individual – mind and body, intelligence, sensitivity, aesthetic sense, personal responsibility and spiritual values.”

 Salwan Public School Ghaziabad conducted eclectic sessions on mind , body and soul for Classes I to VIII  from 09 March to 18 March 2023 which included the activities such as Personality Development Workshop, Training Session on Soap Making & Chocolate Making,   Sports activities such as Golf, Archery, Cricket, Skating, Specialised Training in Musical instrument- Tabla, Dance, Vedic Math, communication skills, young innovator, etc.

Fostering the entrepreneurial spirit while developing student leadership skills has been a key focus throughout sessions. The week long programme has been instrumental in fulfilling our vision of students acquiring fluencies in diverse areas – leadership, ethical decision making, communication and team work.

Session on Personality Development

*Personality development is the need of the hour as it is essential for the holistic development of children and their survival in this competitive world.* 

Salwan Public School Ghaziabad organised a one-day workshop on “Personality Development” for the Classes V to VIII. The workshop was conducted by Mr Bhavesh Suryakant, a renowned Psychologist and Career Counsellor. 

The session was oriented to different aspects of overall personality including Dressing Sense, Etiquettes, Stress Management, Life Skills, Body Language, Time Management and Communication Skills. The programme helped in developing self- confidence, enhancing self-esteem and improving overall personality of the students.

Protection of Children From Sexual Offences Act (Pocso) Workshop

 

In the fast-changing times of technology, where everyone is hooked media and mobile phones, it is almost impossible to keep a close watch on children at all times. To acquaint and strengthen students with acts and laws of The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO), a workshop was conducted for the students of Classes VI-VIII. The POCSO Act 2012 and the Child Abuse Report 2007 were reviewed and discussed by school counsellor. The legal implications of the Act were also reflected upon. The students also offered valuable insight to the deliberation. The session emphasized on zero tolerance towards violation of child rights.

Ananya Rai………the young emerging Scientist & Innovator

Ananya Rai of class XI had shown her best in the model presentation on “Safe and Secure Smart School Bus” and won the Mandal level with first position along with the cash prize worth Rs. 5000. The mega event was conducted by N.A.S Intercollege, Meerut, U.P. The model of Safe & Smart School Bus worked by Ananya Rai, Apurva Jha and Khushi Mavi has gained wide popularity in region and students have presented the same in various national and state level competitions. 

Brighter Minds Programme in Shimla……………..unlock the unlimited potential of the brain

The school organized a week long excursion to Shimla from 18th March to 25th March 2023 with an aim to give the students an opportunity to attend Brighter Minds Programme conducted by Heartfulness Education Trust.

Laxmi Dhama of Class VII and Shantam Shukla of Class VIII joined a contingent of 30 students from Salwan Schools attended this extensive 7-day Brighter Minds Programme.

Students enjoyed an immersive Learning Experience with hands-on learning modules and meditation practices to engage the body, mind and spirit to trigger their hidden potential.  Students attended Brighter Minds Programme which included brain exercises, music, dance, cognitive activities. The Programme was successful in making the students more observant, confident and enhancing their socio- emotional skills.

Moreover, the students also enjoyed the the tour to the Indian Institute of Advanced Studies, followed by a visit to Annadale Army Museum, Green House Chamber and Jhakho Temple. The energy of the students was at its peak when they covered the exciting path to see the beauty of the mall road. At the Pine Eco Hills Campsite, students participated in different adventurous activities like trekking, rappelling and target shooting. Overall, it was a trip that made the students confident, courageous and to a great extent assisted them to conquer their fears.

Excursion to Amrit Udyan

At Amrit Udyan, students were thrilled to witness flowers in full bloom in the garden. They saw the ‘Herbal Garden’ which had many medicinal and aromatic plants. It was established by the late President Dr. Abdul Kalam. This was followed by a tour of the ‘Bonsai Garden’ where many varieties of bonsai plants were shown along with sharing the knowledge of creating a bonsai. Then students saw musical fountains in ‘Spiritual Garden’.

In front of Rashtrapati Bhavan, students saw a rectangular garden, a long garden, and a circular garden. Flowers were in full bloom. Students were apprised about the upcoming spring season. They were spell bound to see different colours of roses in the rose garden. Tulips presented a spectacular treat to the eyes of the group of students and staff accompanying along. The entire visit was interesting, explanatory and informative.
