FANCY DRESS COMPETITION: A Fancy Dress Competition was organized on 17th and 18th November 2011 respectively. The theme for the competition was characters from fairy tales, Panchatantra stories and cartoons. The children showcased a variety of characters like Popeye, Rapunzel, Pirate, Snowhite, Chota Bheem, Tinker Bell, etc. The costumes depicted a high level of creativity and innovation. The dialogues they delivered were equally good. The high point was that all the costumes were created at home and not hired from market.

 

ADVENTURE CAMP: An Adventure Camp was organized on 11th December 2011. The camp included many adventure activities like Artificial Rock Climbing, Burma Bridge, Commando Crawl, River Crossing, Tarzan Rope, etc. Students enjoyed these activities and learnt to combat fear. The puppet show delighted and added fun to the day. Delicious meals were served. Children went back happily & carried with them memories of a happy day wearing SMS caps.

 

GRATITUDE DAY: Hosted in the honour of their grandparents 'Gratitude Day' on Saturday, 12th November 2011. The school was full of excitement as little children welcomed their dada- dadi, nana- nani with tilak and flowers. As our dear grandparents settled down, the day began with a heartwarming prayer by the teachers. Little Salwanians-Aarohi Singhla from KG-A and Guntaas from Nursery-B, recited loving rhymes in praise of grandparents. This was followed by mesmerizing Kathputli Dance performances by the little ones all dressed up in their colourful costumes creating magic on stage. Now it was time for some fun and laughter-Potato Peeling for grandfathers, and Tying Neck-tie for grandmothers, games that won all hearts! The next event was indeed a show stopper- 'The Ramp Walk'-where grandmas and grandpas enjoyed themselves and displayed style and panache. Grandparents showcased huge talent in the form of songs, poetry, jokes, and anecdotes remembering their parenthood.

The day ended with a vote of thanks by a proud grandmother who appreciated the efforts of the school and parents working together as a team, and wishing a bright and happy journey ahead!

 

SPECIAL ASSEMBLIES:


1.
Diwali

The students recited Ramayana and simultaneously the scenes were depicted, where children were dressed in colourful and traditional attire. The abridged version of Ramayana sung rhythmically helped to understand the long saga in an interesting and comprehensive manner. This was followed by a skit where children were dressed as Fire Crackers. These little crackers highlighted the dangers of pollution through crackers, conveying the message that we should not burn crackers and should have a safe and pollution free Diwali. The day ended with a class party and a small Diwali gift from the school.

 

2.Gurupurab

To celebrate Gurupurab – a special assembly was organized on 9th November 2011. The day started with a ‘Prabhat Pheri’ – a group of students and teachers singing Shabad thanking the Almighty. The children came dressed as Panj-Pyaras and recited the Mool Mantra- Ek Omkar, conveying the message that God is one. It was followed by the distribution of sweets & Kadaah Prasad with a lot of cheer and energy. All the children were taken to the nearby Gurudwara- Nanaksar. Children came back happy from Gurudwara with Prasad and blessings.

 

3.Children’s Day

On the occasion of Children’s day, fun games for the students were organized on 14th November, 2011. The icing on the cake was the magic show which was highly enjoyed by all. The day was indeed a very special day for all the children. They were given chocolates and a special lunch which made the day even more memorable.

 

4.Christmas

The students decorated the Christmas tree with baubles, stars, mistletoes, snowflakes, stockings, etc. A spectacular show was put up by students on 23rd December, 2011 in a special assembly to celebrate the festival of Christmas. Birth of Jesus was shown in the form of a short play along with melodious X-mas carols that left the audience spellbound. Children dressed up as Joseph, Mary surrounded by fairies added to the celebrations. The festivities continued with the coming of Santa Claus and singing of Christmas Jingles. Santa distributed sweets and chocolates to all the students.

 

TRIPS/ EXCURSIONS:

 

1.Movie- Doraemon: Students went to Satyam Cineplex to watch the movie ‘DORAEMON’ on 24th October 2011.

 

2.Rail Museum: A trip to Rail Museum was organized for the students. The students were shown various models of ancient and modern rails. They were also told about the invention of the wheel. They were then taken for a joy ride in a toy train which they enjoyed thoroughly.
