KATHPUTLI KA KHEL- AN INTER SCHOOL PUPPET DANCE COMPETITION: 30 prestigious schools of Delhi participated. Each participating school displayed immense talent and performed using beautiful props. All the judges had a difficult time judging as they found many performances deserving. They appreciated many schools by name and said that they needed special mention for a great performance.

ACHEIVERS OF INDIRA AWARD: Our students of Salwan Girls Sr. Sec. School received the prestigious Indira Award at Indira Gandhi Puraskar Vitran Samaroh 2011 on 19^th November 2011. The Chief Guest of the function was Mrs. Sheila Dixit, Chief Minister of Delhi State and Mr. Arvinder Singh Lovely was the Guest of Honour.

Director of Education, Mr. Diwan Chand, along with all the Deputy Directors of Education and the Education Officers of concerned zones were present among the other dignitaries. Selected students and teachers were also present on the occasion.

Three students of our school Jyoti Jaiswal of Class XII (Humanities), Jyotsna of Class X and Aishwarya of Class X got a cash prize of Rs. 2100, a medal, and a Certificate for Excellence in Academics in CBSE.  

GREEN AND CLEAN SCHOOL CAMPUS AWARD-2011: The school was awarded Green and Clean School Campus Award-2011 by the Global Open University Nagaland, World Management Congress Committee Higher Education and Development (HEAD) Summit and the Confederation of the Indian University in appreciation of its outstanding contribution in the field of environmental education planning cleaning and greening of the school campus.

Green School Programme Awards (2011-12): G.D. Salwan School scored 1st Rank in Green Schools Programme conducted by Delhi Government- Centre for Science & Environment Gobar Times Green School Programme Awards (2011-12). Our school’s score is 427/500. At the state level, our school won the best award in the change makers category and won the Chief Minister’s Rolling Trophy for the year.

Above Level Asset Duke Tip Test: We wish to congratulate six of our class 7 – A ‘s students for their recent success in the Duke University Talent Identification Program’s second annual Talent search in India. Only the top 5 percent of academically talented students in the 7thstandard who participate in ASSET testing were invited to participate in the talent search, making this a very distinguished pool of students. Among the approximately 1330 academically gifted 7th standard students who took the above level ASSET test, our children scored above the 90th percentile amongst his test taking peers. The Above level ASSET TEST took place on 27th Nov, 2011 at Basava International school , Dwarka , New Delhi.

CBSE Group Mathematics Olympiad 2011: Piyush Thirani of class XII, has achieved a position in the merit list in the CBSE Group Mathematics Olympiad 2011.

Green and Clean School Campus Award 2011:Our school has been awarded with “Green and Clean School Campus Award 2011” on 31st Dec.’11 in the field of “Environmental education planning, cleaning and greening of the school campus” by World Management Congress Committee Higher Education and Development”.

Quiz on Energy Efficiency and Energy Conservation by TERI: A quiz was conducted on Energy Efficiency and Energy Conservation by TERI and a student of our School, Saurabh Gupta of Class VIII got the First Prize among 35 schools all over Delhi. This was a moment of pride us.
Proficiency Test : The following students appeared in Proficiency Test conducted by CBSE and have successfully cleared it with merit.

Duke Talent Identification Programme: Students of class VII participated in the 2011 Summer Round Duke Talent Identification Programme (Duke TIP) in collaboration with Educational Initiatives, Ahemdabad. This is the second year of Talent search in India by Duke University, to find out how advanced our students abilities truly are.

To qualify for the Talent search, students need to score at the 95th percentile or higher in the English, Maths or Science sections of the in level Asset Test taken in August. Students need to qualify in only one of the accepted subtests. 6 of our students have qualified to join other gifted students throughout India to take an Above Level Asset test.

BITS & BITES COMPETITION: The tiny tots of Salwan Montessori School, Gurgaon participated in the Bits & Bites Competition held at Bluebells school, Gurgaon and won prizes.

COMPUTER COMPETITION: Himanshi Sharma won the second prize in the Computer Paintbrush – Rangoli Competition and Shreesh Tripuvar won the second prize in the Show & Tell Competition on parts of a computer. The school won the overall runner’s up trophy.
