About the Author
Maulana Wahiduddin Khan is an Islamic spiritual scholar who has adopted peace as the mission of his life. Known for his Gandhian views, he considers non-violence as the only method to achieve success.

His extensive research led him to conclude that the need of the hour was to present Islamic teachings in the style and language of the post-scientific era.

Introduction of the Book
The book is the result of 30 years spent by the author in exhaustive research, attempts to present the basic teachings of religion in the light of modern knowledge and in a manner consistent with modern scientific method. After a thorough investigation of the subject, the writer has reached the conclusion that religious teachings are academically valid ,understandable and intellectually acceptable as any of the theories propounded by men of science.
Chapter wise Summary
CHAPTER ONE: Challenges of Modern Knowledge
The challenge of Modern Knowledge is to clarify and consolidate the truths of religion. Modern atheistic thinkers maintain that religion springs from man’s desire to find meaning in the universe. According to Auguste Comte, the history of human’s intellectual development can be divided into three stages-
Ø The theological stage, where events of the universe are explained n terms of divine power
Ø The metaphysical stage, where there is no mention of god or any divine power
Ø Logical positivism where events are explained in terms of common laws deduced from observation and calculation and we are passing through this stage.
CHAPTER TWO: Review
An account has been given in the preceding pages of those anti-religious arguments which are generally put forward in order to prove that modernity leaves no room for religion .Modern Science should include the explanation of reality. One should accept the reality rather than deny it. By denying the truth, it is man who loses.
CHAPTER THREE: The Method of Argument
The modern age versus religion is basically a case of reasoned argument versus the acceptance of revelation. Today’s apprehension of reality is through observation and experiment, but since religious beliefs concern the supra-rational sphere of existence, they are thus considered unverifiable. Religion is supported and testified to by innumerable significant discoveries.
CHAPTER FOUR: Nature and Science Speak about God
It includes the fundamental concepts of Religion that presents a truth which is becoming more and more clearly manifest with every advance in the field of scientific research. Different parts of the human body perform vital and highly complex functions in perfect coordination with each other. Each and every aspect of Science speaks about existence of God.
CHAPTER FIVE: Argument for the Life Hereafter
One of the most important tenets of religion is the reality of the life hereafter. The present world is a place of trial where man, throughout his entire life-span is on probation. The advent of life hereafter assumes a high degree of credibility, that the daily deeds of each and every human individual are being instantaneously recorded throughout the universe at all times. The human personality manifests itself in threeway: intentions, words and actions.
CHAPTER SIX: Affirmation of Prophethood
The basic tenet of religious belief is the concept for prophethood.Throughout the ages, God has conveyed his will to mankind through men of superior virtue, whom he has singled out from amongst all other human beings to be his Prophets. Since there is no visible link between God and his messengers, claims of divine revelation are often doubted. But seeing the astonishing quality and unique personality of Mohammed, one can accept that prophet hood exists.
CHAPTER SEVEN: The Challenges of the Quran
The uniqueness of Quran proves that it is of divine origin. The predictions in Quran are true and the words of Quran have come true again and again. The Quran is free from either type of inconsistency, secular contradictions and historical inaccuracy. Quran explains different areas -Geology, Physics and Biology.
CHAPTER EIGHT: Religion and Society
Society based on a delicate network of human relationship, is not able to evolve a universally acceptable principle on which a viable set of laws are included. A close relationship exists between Society and the religion that needs to be emphasized.
CHAPTER NINE: The Life We Seek
The basic fundamental need a man has is a need to know his own nature and the nature of the world he lives in, how he came into this world and what will happen to him after death. The root cause of the majority of ills of modern life lies in personal philosophies and social aims being so often diametrically opposed to each other.
CHAPTER TEN: A Final Word
It includes the importance of present time. Now is the time for man to take heed, to contemplate his life as it actually is, to prepare for the last day. The Quran is there to guide his every footstep and he should follow the pattern set by God’s prophet.
CONCLUSON-
The book is an attempt to describe and explain the new revolution where the strength of scientific finding is asserted. Through a modern Scientific Revolution, opportunities are created that if seized, can turn the tide against atheism and can attain intellectual dominance.
A Thousand Splendid Suns is a wonderful book by
Khaled Hosseini. The story is set in Afghanistan, a country which was in turmoil
and utter chaos in the 1970s as it was constantly at war; marked with death,
loss and unimaginable grief. First the Soviets and then the warlords with the
brutal Talibans taking over at last.
So, the story is about the tumultous lives of two drastically different women.
Laila & Mariam who are brought together by destiny. It is about how love and
faith turnout to be the most powerful weapon to fight one's unending miseries.
I personally felt like I was sitting in a time machine set to travel through the
city of Kabul and feel what all it incurs.
So, in a nutshell, this is a novel not to be missed as Laila & Mariam come to
life and narrate their story before your eyes.........
