EDUCATION FOR ALL
Education is the basic necessity for all. Education has now become the
major interest for every part of the society. It leads to the social
development of the society. It also leads to the personal development
of the individual. If one gets good education, he will be able to get
a good job. He will be able to able to earn a lot and earn better for
his living.
In many
parts of the country, girls are still considered to be a liability for
the society. Many societies are still prevailing with the old thoughts
of sati, child marriage. They are not provided with proper education.
Since, they are no asset to family, they are considered to be the
homemakers. In some societies, they are still considered to be a boon.
Hence, every next day, we hear about the cases of girls’ abortion or
death of a new born baby. But now, by government’s awareness, it has
declined a lot.
With
the upcoming generations, thoughts regarding education are varying a
lot. Now, girls are on an equal footing with men. Now, every parent
wants his child to get the best education and be a good human.
“Education is the thing that opens the mind of a person and expands
it.” Earlier most of the people were having stereotyped thinking, but
now it has changed a lot.
Education is simply the soul of the society as it passes from one
generation to another. If the eldest person of the family is educated,
he will get a good job and will be able to sustain his family well and
get them educated.
Government must take actions towards ‘education of all.’ It must
check that everybody gets a good education. Schemes like Sarva Siksha
Abhiyan, CBSE scholarship to a girl child, government policy of giving
free education seems to be fruitful decision for the society.
Government has also made rights like Right to free education under
fourteen year s of age and ban on child labour.
Albert
Einstein said it rightly “Education is what remains when we have
forgotten all that we have been taught.”

Few lines about “Our
Founder”…
As cradle is to an
infant,
Late Mr. Girdhari Lal Salwan
gave birth to his baby ’The Salwan Schools’ and has laid a strong
foundation for them.
He was born in the
year 1902 in a remote village of Kartarpur, Punjab, in the family of
Pt. Mool Raj Salwan. After the early demise of his father, he was
left in his early twenties to bring up his entire family of six
brothers and one sister. He worked hard to make his ends meet.
Unfortunately all his brothers were snatched away from him one by
one and now the responsibilities of the families was on his
shoulders.
Pt. Girdhari Lal
Salwan overtook education of minorities in Peshawar & imparted
education to all- irrespective of class, caste, religion & creed -
Free OF COST.
His pragmatism
urged him to venture forward & he set up Salwan Education Trust at
Peshawar, Pakistan in 1941. Thus came into being ‘Salwan Sanatan
Dharam High School for Boys & Salwan Sanatan Dharam High School for
Girls which still is a living tribute to this dynamic Man.
Partition of India
compelled him to leave his native place & he came to Delhi with his
kith n kin in the area, which is now called Rajinder Nagar.
Adverse situations
could not hold him back & he began to provide education to children
of refugees. With untiring efforts he managed to get land duly
allotted by Ministry of Rehabilitation, for establishing a school.
Thus in year 1949 Salwan Boys School was born followed by
Salwan Girls School in 1952 and Salwan
Public School in 1953.
He was a great
visionary & conceptualized partnership in education by introducing
the theory of sharing of facilities between public schools & schools
for the under privileged. Being a great entrepreneur, he ensured
that the trustees and members of Managing Committees of various
Salwan schools consisted of eminent people from different walks of
life. Who were willing to sacrifice their time selflessly for the
noble cause of education.
I feel proud to be
a member of Salwan family.
