KATHPUTLI KA KHEL- AN INTER SCHOOL PUPPET DANCE COMPETITION: 30 prestigious schools of Delhi participated. Each participating school displayed immense talent and performed using beautiful props. All the judges had a difficult time judging as they found many performances deserving. They appreciated many schools by name and said that they needed special mention for a great performance.

The results were as follows;

ACHEIVERS OF INDIRA AWARD: Our students of Salwan Girls Sr. Sec. School received the prestigious Indira Award at Indira Gandhi Puraskar Vitran Samaroh 2011 on 19^th November 2011. The Chief Guest of the function was Mrs. Sheila Dixit, Chief Minister of Delhi State and Mr. Arvinder Singh Lovely was the Guest of Honour.

Director of Education, Mr. Diwan Chand, along with all the Deputy Directors of Education and the Education Officers of concerned zones were present among the other dignitaries. Selected students and teachers were also present on the occasion.

Three students of our school Jyoti Jaiswal of Class XII (Humanities), Jyotsna of Class X and Aishwarya of Class X got a cash prize of Rs. 2100, a medal, and a Certificate for Excellence in Academics in CBSE.  

GREEN AND CLEAN SCHOOL CAMPUS AWARD-2011: The school was awarded Green and Clean School Campus Award-2011 by the Global Open University Nagaland, World Management Congress Committee Higher Education and Development (HEAD) Summit and the Confederation of the Indian University in appreciation of its outstanding contribution in the field of environmental education planning cleaning and greening of the school campus.

Award by C.B.S.E: Having attained excellent result, Class XII, 2012 the Central Board of Secondary Education declared two students: Kashish Lahori and Piyush Thirani among the 1% overall high achievers of New Delhi and offered an annual scholarship of Rs. 80,000 for their future venture.

Green School Award: The trophy was handed over by the Delhi chief minister Ms. Sheila Dixit at the Green School Award ceremony held at Stein Auditorium, India Habitat Centre. The event has also received news-paper coverage in Hindustan Times dated 29 March 2012

Fun Race: A fun race in support of cancer patients was organized at Rajghat by Sir Ganga Ram Hospital on 22 April 2012. The students of G.D.S.P.S participated in huge numbers. Two students under 14, Ganesh Kumar (VI A) and Amimesh Yadav (VII A) won the second and the third position respectively.  

Best Student of the Year: Jasdeep Singh of class XII A was declared the best student of the year (2010-2011) by N.I.E. (Times of India) on 16 April 2012. 

Inter-School Competition:  Rachna Sagar organized an inter-school competition comprising at two levels: First, a written test was conducted on 29 April 2012 in respective schools followed by an online test on their website, www.pathshalamasti.com.  It is a matter of great pride that in the second level, Divyank Sachdev of Class X won a package of Rs.4000 comprising of books and other study-material. 

Girls Volley Ball Tournament: The Sub junior girls volley ball team of G.D. Salwan Public School qualified for the finals in the AdharShila Vidyapeeth volley ball tournament held at Pitampura on 21 May 2012 by defeating M.M.P.S. It emerged victorious in the finals as well by defeating Adhar Shila Vidyapeeth and received a gold medal, certificate of merit and a notebook diary. 

Junior and Sub Junior Boys Volley Ball: The Junior and Sub junior Boys volley ball team of G.D. Salwan Public School won the semi-final by defeating D.A.V. Pishpanjali Enclave on 21 May 2012 and bagged the silver medal.

 Exhibition on Project SEARCH by TERI: Students of G.D.S.P.S attended the exhibition on project SEARCH organized by TERI on 20 April 2012 at stein Auditorium, India Habitat Center. Bakshish Singh of class IX was awarded the second Prize for creating artwork made from recyclables on the theme “Environment Protection".

BITS & BITES COMPETITION: The tiny tots of Salwan Montessori School, Gurgaon participated in the Bits & Bites Competition held at Bluebells school, Gurgaon and won prizes.

COMPUTER COMPETITION: Himanshi Sharma won the second prize in the Computer Paintbrush – Rangoli Competition and Shreesh Tripuvar won the second prize in the Show & Tell Competition on parts of a computer. The school won the overall runner’s up trophy.

Olympiads 2011-2012: To promote competitive spirit and scientific temper amongst students, the following Olympiads were conducted in the school in 2011-12: National Cyber Olympiad (NCO), National Science Olympiad (NSO), International Maths Olympiad (IMO) and International English Olympiad (IEO). The following students were school toppers and 10 from these won the gold medals in respective Olympiads:

24^th Delhi State Jeet Kune Do (Martial Art) Championship: 24^th Delhi State Jeet Kune Do (Martial Art) Championship was held at Talkatora Indoor Stadium on 7 May, 2012 where 35 schools from Delhi participated.

Our school bagged 6 gold, 5 silver and also 5 bronze and were also awarded runners up trophy.
