EFFECTS OF COLOURS ON MOODS

Human beings have diversified moods ie. anxiety, fear, sorrow, delight, gloom etc. that depend on various factors which include eating habits, state of mind, effects of colours and individual life experiences. Colours have a deep impact on an individual's psyche and mood. Colours have psychological effect on moods ranging from tranquility to rage and from clarity to disorientation.

Various studies into the effects of colour on mood indicate that it is not the specific shade of colour that affects the way we feel but more the temperature of colour - whether warmer or cooler. Warm colours (red, orange, yellow) make us feel lively, energetic, pouring onto us positive vibes of happiness and passion. Red colour is eye catching and exciting that stimulates the body and mind to increase circulation. Orange colour enhances our energy levels and heals the lungs. On the other hand, cool colours (blue, green, purple) make us calm, contemplative, peaceful and sometimes sad. Green colour is associated with nature that provides a calm refreshing and relaxed feeling.

The colour Blue enhances verbal expression and communication, artistic expression and will power. Purple is associated with spirituality, wisdom, mental strength and focus. But too much purple promotes pride and arrogance. Colours are thought to be associated with the energy centres, or chakras in ayurveda. If a person's chakra is thought to be weak, the colour associated with it can strengthen it. The seven colours of light spectrum can stimulate healing process of one's body.

Even ayurved works in tune with our aura and seven energy chakras. It maintains that each of us wears a cover of many colours which is in a state of continual change subject to individual's physical, emotional and mental state .

To touch the Soul of another Human Being                ........ is to walk on holy ground

"For as long as space exists
and sentient begins endure
May I too remain
To dispel the miseryof the world.
Whatever joy is there in this world
All comes from desiring other to be happy,
And what ever suffering there is in this world
All comesfrom desiring myself to be happy."
"The life you live will soon be past, but the things you do will always last."

God, the almighty, has given us this life to live, not just to spend. We should always live up to our potential, discover new joys and meaning of life and help others do the same.

"If I can do some good today,
If I can serve along life's way,
If I can something helpful say,
  O God! Show me how."

Life is not worth living unless it is spent giving to others in some way and community service is the best way. Giving to the society through community service is the right thing to do because whatever we sow in the way of kindness and joy, we will regain it many times over. To give is to gain. It also helps in building up our inner peace and strength which are essential components of life.

"When the night is the darkest, that's when one lone candle makes the biggest difference. One single step, may not affect us a lot but we can bring a smile on each face and give them a better life. In the times of calamities, the most important weapon against destruction is community service. Each of us should join hands in such situations and help the people in need whole heartedly. We can wipe their tears, share their sorrows and console them through empathy and affection.

A tree gives its shade to each and everyone without thinking that the person is rich or poor. A lake provides its water to everyone without being biased. So, nature does social service in its own way. Then why can't we? For making this world a better place to live in, we need to make a collective effort and contribute to the cause because 'A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step', and what a task requires is just' initiation'.

MY ENVIRONMENT - MY CONTRIBUTION
As a responsible citizen, it is our duty to conserve our environment and use all its natural resources in an efficient manner. Simple contributions that I have followed to protect environment and that I want to be followed by everyone is planting as many trees as possible in the surroundings to clean the air. Turn off the electrical appliances and lights when not in use. I have installed ceiling fans instead of air conditioning units to keep my rooms comfortable in warm weather. I lower the thermostat by a few degrees in winter. An extra layer or blanket keeps me cozy and will help to reduce the electricity bill significantly. I prefer bath to showers. I have installed low-flush toilets at home as these use 1.6 gallons per flush, instead of 3.5 gallons, cutting water consumption by more than half. On sunny days, I use a clothes line instead of a cloth dryer. Clothes will smell fresher and the sun's rays ensure that germs are completely sizzled. I always use paper bags, jute bags, cloth bags instead of plastic bags. I harvest rain water and use for other purposes like watering the plants, cleaning of floor, washing car etc. I usually water the garden and lawn at night because it gives water more time to soak in without added evaporation from the day's heat.

My house has Compound Fluorescent Light bulbs as they last longer and consume one-quarter of the energy. Apart from that I use alternative source for energy needs like solar cooker, solar furnaces, solar panel and solar heater. I use soaps and detergents that contain no phosphates and use a mixture of water and vinegar to wash windows.

Swati Vashishtha
The life on the earth is sustained by a sort of balance created by nature. However this balance created by nature is so delicate that if a part of it is destroyed, disturbed or diminished, it will be found that the whole is destroyed.

The increasing interference of man with the elements of nature has greatly disturbed our environment.

Ultimately the solution lies in re-establishing the broken link between man and nature. So I have paid attention towards plantations nearby my home and try to generate environment awareness among people. 1 have explained the importance of ecological preservation to all my friends and neighbours.

To check soil pollution, 1 don't use polythene bags as they are harmful to soil. Thus regarding the rights and duties of the citizens, we all should grow more trees in neighbourhood because if we want to save ourselves, we must save our environment.

Aastha Sharma - V
When I watched first, the garden scene
I was amazed by the world of green,
Grandpa in the morning watered all the plants,
Then sat there for morning chants.
I also learned to sow the seed,
To sustain the greenery, world's biggest need.
The earth cannot, on its axis stand, Unless it gets the, lush green land.
Since I learned gardening, 10 years have passed,
In my garden, 20 trees have amassed. Growing tree would helpful to all,
To save from sun's heat, the world will stand tall,
I spend my Sundays in garden,
My five pine tree project is so far done.

A language simulative environment in the early years helps a child to learn a language meaningfully and helps the mind to form correct images of hislher environment. It influences one's personality. One of the most important tasks for children in the first five years of life is the development of language. Children have vast individual differences in vocabulary and oral language development and they enter early care settings with these language bases. Early educators and adults in the child's surrounding can meet this challenge by providing language-rich learning environment.
