“Playing sports build character”
Sport is played for health reasons, but there is so much more to it than that. Sports for children in primary school has been proven to enhance mental and physical development, as well as social skills and even improvements in academic performance.
Salwan Montessori School, Sector- 5, Gurugram celebrated its Annual Sports Meet in a frolicsome atmosphere at HUDA Gymkhana Club, on 4th December 2022.
The playground was overflowing with zeal, passion, and excitement. The program began with the arrival of the Chief Guest Arjuna Awardee Shri Ranjan Sodhi, Guest of Honor Ms. Shivani Kataria Olympic Swimmer, along with Shri Shiv Dutt Salwan the Chairman Emeritus of Salwan Education Trust, while Chairman Shri Sushil Dutt Salwan (SET), Shri Paramjeet Khanna (Chairman- SMS), Director Maj. General Sanjay Agrawal and other dignitaries also graced the occasion. The chief guest and Chairman addressed the gathering and emphasized the importance of sports in a child’s life. They were delighted to see the young Salwanians participating in almost all the Sports Events with great enthusiasm and zeal. On this occasion, the School Newsletter ‘DISHA’ was unraveled which presented and highlighted the learning process, potential and the journey of little learners.
The event formally commenced with the March Past by young Salwanians. The oath was taken to abide by the rules and regulations to participate in the sports event with true spirit of sportsmanship followed by lighting the torch flame, which ignited the passion of sport spirit. The flame represented the endeavor for the protection and struggle for victory. It also symbolized the light of spirit, knowledge, and life.
The school head Ms. Sona Gombar welcomed the August gathering and motivated the little champs by her inspiring words.
Chairman Salwan Montessori School, Shri Paramjeet Khanna officially declared the Sports Meet Open. Colorful balloons were released, and a pigeon was flown symbolizing the vibrant hope and aspirations of the students that were flying high.
The students displayed a wide array of energetic and bouncy sports events ranging from the March Past, track events, yoga, Zumba, Pom-Pom drill, Taekwondo and many more. They mesmerized the audience with their energetic performances. The parents were standing tall with pride to watch their little ones perform so confidently.
Guests, Parents and all the Teachers were present to raise the morale of the students. The Chief Guest awarded the medals to the winners of the various races. The Sports Meet came to an end with the learning of true sportsmanship and team spirit.
