Shubhra Prakash, an alumnus of Salwan Public School, afternoon shift, proudly presented a theatre play -FONTWALA on 07 April 2023 at Akshara Theatre, New Delhi. It is the story of an artist who made it possible to type Indian scripts on the computer keyboard. A visual treat with projections, music, movement, and a story about language, script, technology, and the power of the printed word. It is inspired by the story of the typographer and font designer of Indian scripts, Rajeev Prakash.
Teachers from SPS Trans Delhi Signature City and SPS Mayur Vihar, with their students, attended the Fontwala play at Akshara Theatre near Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital in the evening.
The event began with observing Mr. Rajiv Prakash “Fontwala” performing his calligraphy art in different fonts, which was very beautiful. He was able to grab everyone’s attention effortlessly, and the audience was totally invested in his performance, which also taught them a lot about calligraphy.
‘Fontwala” is a play about language scripts, technology, and the integration of all these to create a new adventure. However, with every adventure come many struggles. The play focuses on Mr. Rajeev’s talent and his perseverance to create something new while facing his struggles fearlessly. It informs the audience that the first Anglo-Nagari keyboard allowing the user to write in Indian scripts using a Latin-based keyboard was developed by the “Fontwala ”. It was a wonderful play that helped everyone attain a new perspective on language scripts and technology. The play ended with Fontwala’s valuable words: “Sundar lekhan aap ki manodsha ko darshata hai ”. The clear message was to put in effort and never lose hope. This amazing play was written by Ms.Shubra Prakash and directed by Mrs. Shubhra and Mr. Swapnil Chitransh.
It was heartening to see our school alumni display such wonderful performance with confidence. The students were inspired to follow their aspirations and have faith in their abilities.
