On 21 September 2023, SPS MV organized a visit to CSIR Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology (CSIR-IGIB) in Mathura Road. The medical students of class XI and XII attended the ‘Open Day’. Ms. Poorti, Science Communicator told the students about the research work taking place in the IGIB Labs. Students were divided into two groups with volunteer PhD students who took them on a tour to different parts of the campus. Students were shown the genome sequencing machine Novaseq 6000, the best machine for genome sequencing which handles 6 TB of data and can work on 64 different samples at the same time. They were shown Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM) where Ms. Archana explained the working and functioning of the microscope and how slides are made and loaded.
Students were also shown PCR lab where the process was demonstrated and were given a hands-on experience of gel electrophoresis. They were shown the zebrafish laboratory where different mutated variants of fish are cultured as model organisms. Dr. Souvik Maiti, director of CSIR also released a book titled ‘Sparks’, to establish a connection with the school children.
SAMANVAY SAHODAYA BEST TEACHER’S AWARD CEREMONY 2023
Samanvay Sahodaya is a consortium of schools in East Delhi (under CBSE) that have joined forces to collectively share their innovative practices across various facets of school education. The Samanvay Sahodaya Best Teacher’s Award Ceremony took place at ASN Senior Secondary School in Mayur Vihar, Phase-1, on 02 September 2023. This event recognized the outstanding efforts of twenty-three teachers from different schools of East Delhi, who were honored with the prestigious title of the ‘Best Teacher.’ Among these distinguished educators, Ms. Ahanthem Romita Devi (TGT-Science) of SPS MV proudly represented her school as one of the twenty-three recipients of this esteemed award.
NATIONAL LEVEL ONLINE ANNUAL ART COMPETITION
Nirvani Sharma of IX bagged the second position in the National Level Online Annual Art competition organized by KALANTAR ART FOUNDATION. She cleared the first round by submitting her drawing via email on the topic ‘ अपना भविष्य सवार लूं ‘ and appeared for the second round on 23 April 2023 conducted live online.
Aishwarya S. Rathore of class X also won the second position in the National level English poem writing competition conducted by the same organization in a similar mode.
MEDITATION PROGRAMME
“A three-day Leadership Development Program held at Kanha Shanti Vanam in Hyderabad from 12 to 15 August 2023, tailored for school leaders associated with the Salwan Education Trust, witnessed the participation of fourteen leaders, including Capt Richa Sharma Katyal (Retd.), Principal, and Smt. Sheetal Kapoor, Headmistress, from SPS, MV. The program featured meditation sessions and interactions with Daaji, followed by the daily practice of meditation in various school classes. Additionally, a Heartfulness workshop on September 2, 2023, led by Ms. Meenakshi, equipped teachers with stress management techniques and emphasized meditation, deep breathing, and nature reconnection for a positive classroom environment. To further nurture students, the school introduced daily 15-minute morning meditation sessions, fostering calmness among teachers, reducing stress, and promoting holistic development and improved peer interactions. These initiatives have had a positive impact on school leaders, teachers, and students, creating a more nurturing and balanced educational environment.”
INAUGURATION OF UPNIDHI HERITAGE CLUB
The UPNIDHI – The Youth Heritage Club inauguration ceremony took place on September 1, 2023, at SPS Gurugram. This collaborative effort between Salwan Schools and the Indian Trust for Rural and Heritage Development (ITRHD) celebrated and nurtured cultural heritage while emphasizing the importance of responsibility among youth for its preservation. The event featured an insightful presentation outlining the club’s mission, vision, and objectives, with a focus on raising cultural heritage awareness and organizing heritage-related activities. Distinguished speakers, including Shri Sushil Salwan and Shri S.K. Mishra, provided inspirational addresses, emphasizing the significance of preserving cultural heritage.
IIHM TEACHERS’ DAY AWARDS
The Teachers’ Day Awards Ceremony was organized at the International Institute of Hotel Management (IIHM) Campus Badarpur, New Delhi on 16 September 2023 to commemorate and celebrate the work of the nation’s Teachers and Educationists.
The institute, in association with the International Hospitality Council (IHC) London, New Delhi conferred the distinguished title of “Teacher Par Excellence” upon two exemplary educators – Capt Richa Sharma Katyal (Retd.), Principal and Mrs. Neelima Goyal (TGT -Computer Science) of SPS MV. Capt Richa Sharma Katyal (Retd.), with her visionary leadership and tireless commitment to holistic education, has steered the school towards excellence.
HINDI PAKHWADA (CLASSES I-X)
हिंदी भारत की राष्ट्रभाषा है। राष्ट्रभाषा किसी भी देश की पहचान और गौरव होती है। देश के आज़ाद होने के बाद 14 सितंबर 1949 को संविधान में हिंदी भाषा को राजभाषा के दर्ज़े से गौरवान्वित किया।
इसी विषय को छात्रों तक पहुँचाने हेतु सलवान पब्लिक स्कूल द्वारा सितंबर माह में ‘हिंदी पखवाड़ा’ का आयोजन किया गया, जिसके अंतर्गत कक्षा तीसरी से दसवीं तक के छात्रों को हिंदी भाषा से संबद्ध ‘स्लोगन लेखन’ गतिविधि करवाई गई। इसके अतिरिक्त दिनांक 14 सितंबर 2023 को दिन का प्रारंभ विशेष प्रार्थना सभा के द्वारा हुआ जिसमें हिंदी विभागाध्यक्षा मीनाक्षी अरोड़ा द्वारा ‘हिंदी दिवस, हिंदी भाषा के महत्त्व एवं हिंदी भाषा के क्षेत्र में व्यवसायों की संभावनाओं’ पर प्रकाश डाला गया।
प्रधानाचार्या जी द्वारा ‘हिंदी भाषा को व्याकरणिक दृष्टिकोण से समृद्ध बनाने’ हेतु छात्रों को कई महत्वपूर्ण बिंदुओं से अवगत कराया गया। इसके अतिरिक्त विद्यालय की विभिन्न कक्षाओं में हिंदी के प्रति प्रेम दर्शाते हुए विविध गतिविधियाँ कविता वाचन, क्विज़ आदि भी करवाई गईं।
GRANDPARENTS’ DAY CELEBRATIONS
SPS MV, celebrated ‘Grandparents’ Day’ on 23 September 2023, crafting a heartfelt tribute to the cherished bond shared between grandparents and their beloved grandchildren. The event featured a warm welcome, heartfelt speeches, captivating performances, and engaging activities, thus showcasing the love and respect that the school community has for grandparents. The little ones presented a heart-warming performance titled “Welcome to the School,” highlighting the innocence and enthusiasm of childhood, leaving the grandparents in awe. The graceful dance performance and the “Talent Show” displayed the talents and creativity of grandparents and children, reinforcing the idea that age is no barrier for joy and self-expression. The energetic aerobics workout and exciting games added fun and excitement to the celebration. Capt Richa Sharma Katyal (Retd.), Principal awarded the winners and showed her appreciation for the efforts of both the young and the elderly participants. The Grandparents’ Day celebration was a heart-warming acknowledgment of the special relationship and a testament to the enduring value of family bonds.
FIRST NATIONAL YOGASANA COACHES TRAINING PROGRAMME
The 1st National Yogasana Coaches Training Programme (NYCTP) was a significant event that took place on online mode from 15 August 2023 to 29 August 2023, and from September 4 September 2023 to 10 September 2023, at NSNIS, Patiala. This program was organized in collaboration with Yogasana Bharat and aimed to provide a comprehensive learning experience for coaches in the field of Yogasana.
The program consisted of a 200-hour curriculum encompassing theory, practical training, viva examinations, and field training exams. Many participants brought decades of experience in the Yogasana sporting field, with some having engaged in the discipline since 1995. The teaching fraternity of NSNIS and Yogasana Bharat included Dr. Jaideep Arya, Secretary General of Yogasana Bharat; Dr. Chandrakant Mishra, Programme Director; Rachit Koushik; Dr. Arti Pal; Rohit Koushik; Umang Bhai Dawn; Vishal Pachori; Adv Umesh Narang; Adv Yash Parasar; Shreyas Markandeya; Vashishtha Parul Sharma; Kamal Kishore; Dr. Rabindra Mohan Chawala; Piyush Kant Mishra; and the entire Team of Yogasana Bharat. The volunteers of the Coaching Diploma Students were also acknowledged for their valuable contributions.
The program served as an opportunity for these experienced individuals to further enhance their knowledge and skills. The expertise of the organizers and resource people played a crucial role in enriching the learning experience.
WORKSHOP ON EXPLORING CAREER OPPORTUNITIES IN LAW
A workshop on exploring career opportunities in the field of law was conducted at SPS MV on 12 September 2023, for students of classes XI and XII. Mr. Saral Minocha, the resource person, is a graduate from the National Law University Delhi and specializes in Intellectual Property laws.
The aim of the workshop was to provide students with insights into the various roles and positions available in the legal profession, as well as the skills required to succeed in this field. Participants were informed about the different career paths they could pursue, such as becoming a lawyer, paralegal, legal secretary, or working in legal administration, consulting, or education. The workshop also provided an overview of the job scope in the legal field, covering core legal careers, courtroom roles, legal and administrative support positions, legal consulting, IT careers in litigation support, legal education, court reporting, and legal administration.
