Salwan Public School, Gurugram, proudly celebrates the remarkable achievement of its Under-17 Girls Volleyball team, who clinched the champion trophy at the prestigious GPSC Volleyball Championship 2024. The event, hosted by DPS, Maruti Kunj, Bhondsi, on 22nd & 23rd October, saw spirited competition with 16 boys’ teams and 12 girls’ teams from GPSC Haryana schools. Our U-17 Girls team delivered an outstanding performance, skillfully securing the second position in this fiercely contested tournament, showcasing resilience, talent, and sportsmanship.

School Swimmers Shine at CBSE National Championship

The CBSE Swimming National Championship was held at KIIT International School, Bhubaneswar, from 11th to 14th October, 2024. Our students made us proud by securing commendable positions in various categories. Prateek Singh of Class XII exhibited an impressive performance in the Under-19 Boys swimming events, securing the 2nd position in the 50-meter Butterfly and 3rd position in the 50-meter Freestyle. Additionally, Raunaq Choudhary of Class XI represented the school in the Under-19 Girls category. Both students showcased dedication and skill, contributing to the school’s proud achievements in competitive swimming championship.

Indian Film Project (IFP) is a dynamic platform where creative minds unite to explore the realms of creativity, technology, and culture through collaboration. In this year’s 50-Hour Design Challenge, Snighdha Vashist of Class X-D participated and excelled, winning the prestigious Platinum Award. Her remarkable achievement not only highlights her talent but also marks her as the youngest participant to earn this honor.

On 10th October 2024, the Kala Utsav competition was organized by Haryana School Shiksha Pariyojna Parishad at the district level. In this prestigious competition, five of our school’s talented musicians Devansh Sengar (Class XB), Aniket Dwivedi (Class XB), Darpan Rohilla (Class XB), Chiranjeev Badhai (Class XB), Ishant Grover (Class XB) participated in the Indian Classical Instrumental category, showcasing their skills in Sitar and Tabla. We are thrilled to celebrate the remarkable achievement of Raynav Mittal from Class 2 E, who earned a Bronze Medal in the Jaipur Championship for Karate under the 7-category. This accomplishment highlights Raynav’s exceptional dedication and passion for karate at such a young age. 

Adding to this milestone, Raynav also attained his Yellow Belt in the Belt Grading Test, a step that reflects his commitment to growing and excelling in his sport.  At the SAMUN conference held at Salwan Public School, Mayur Vihar, on 23rd and 24th October,2024 our students shone brilliantly, embodying the essence of diplomacy, leadership, and collaboration. Each delegate represented their country with poise, engaging in spirited debates and crafting solutions for global challenges. The event was a beautiful tapestry of diverse cultures and perspectives, showcasing our students’ passion for positive change and leaving an indelible mark on the international community.

Among the notable achievements, Meet Dabas (class X-B ) was awarded the title of “Best Delegate” in the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) committee, representing the Delegate of Japan. Tanvi Karkka (class XI-E ) was recognized as the “Best Caricaturist” in the International Press (IP) committee, while Avani Bhat (class XI-B) earned the title of “Best Journalist” in the same committee. P. Kovid from (class XI-A) received a “Special Mention” in the Indian Stakeholder Meet (ISM) committee, where he represented Sambit Patra. Additionally, Vihaan Maheshwari (class X-B) was awarded a “Special Mention” in the UNHRC committee as the Delegate of India. These accolades reflect the dedication and skill our students brought to SAMUN, demonstrating their commitment to global discourse and their readiness to contribute to a better world.

Celebrating Creativity at the "Unity in Harmony" Art Exhibition

The ‘Unity in Harmony’ art exhibition, held at the All-India Fine Arts and Crafts Society, Rafi Marg, New Delhi, from October 5th to 20th October 2024, showcased the exceptional talents of four students from Salwan Public School, Gurugram. These young artists displayed their creativity and artistic flair at this prestigious event. Their contributions were recognized with certificates, and their works were featured in the exhibition catalog. They also had the unique opportunity to interact with renowned artists from across India, gaining invaluable insights into the world of art while forging connections within the artistic community. The exhibition, which celebrated artistic unity, provided a wonderful platform for these budding talents to shine.

Bal Ramayana – A Celebration of Values and Culture by Salwan’s Little Stars

To instill the values of respect, love, compassion, dedication, and humanity in young learners, Salwan Public School organized a vibrant presentation of “Bal Ramayana” by the little Salwanians of Mont II on 24th and 25th October, 2024. The event commenced with a heartfelt prayer, setting a serene tone as the young students embarked on narrating the key events of the Ramayana. Through captivating narration, expressive enactment, and graceful dance, the children beautifully conveyed the essence of this revered epic.

 The presentation began with the joyous celebration of Lord Rama’s birth, exuding joy and reverence. The young performers then skillfully enacted the swayamvar of Sita, depicting Rama’s strength and valor as he won her hand. They continued the story with the climactic victory scenes, which led to the joyous return of Rama to Ayodhya, marked by Diwali celebrations. Each scene was brought to life with vibrant costumes, expressive choreography, and confident narration, making the story engaging and accessible for the audience.

 This remarkable presentation not only highlighted the students’ talents but also deepened their understanding of cultural heritage. Through Bal Ramayana, students connected with the values of courage, devotion, and unity, leaving a lasting impression on everyone present.

Salwan Public School Paves the Path to a Cleaner Future with Sanitation Drive

On 1st October 2024, Salwan Public School, Gurugram, organized a sanitation drive to promote cleanliness and raise awareness about the importance of hygiene in the community. The initiative saw active participation of students and staff members. Participants were divided into groups and tasked with cleaning various areas around the school premises, including nearby streets, parks, and vacant plots. Equipped with gloves, masks, brooms, and garbage bags, the teams worked diligently to collect waste, segregating it into biodegradable and non-biodegradable categories for proper disposal.

The event culminated with an address by the school Principal, who commended the participants for their enthusiasm and commitment to the cause. She emphasized the crucial role that young people play in building a sustainable, cleaner future and encouraged students to continue engaging in such initiatives. The sanitation drive not only improved the cleanliness of the local environment but also fostered a sense of responsibility among students towards maintaining community hygiene and sustainability.

The event concluded with a pledge by all participants to remain committed to cleanliness efforts in the future, further strengthening the school’s dedication to environmental conversation and well-being.

Diwali Celebration at Salwan Public School, Gurugram

Salwan Public School, Gurugram, embraced the festival of Diwali with profound enthusiasm, organizing a memorable event that honored the cultural and spiritual significance of this cherished festival. The celebration commenced with a serene “Ram Vandana”, an invocation to Lord Rama that set a peaceful tone for the day. The gathering then took a solemn pledge, uniting in a shared commitment to uphold responsibility and harmony in society. The event featured a range of captivating performances, beginning with a mesmerizing sitar rendition by a talented student that enchanted the audience. The Principal requested a special live musical performance, underscoring the importance of experiencing the beauty of music firsthand. A discussion on the impact of ragas and their universal vibrations enriched the experience, followed by a spiritually uplifting hymn, “Sarvoloka Maheshwar”, which further elevated the ambiance. A discourse on Diwali’s significance offered the audience insight into the festival’s profound values, accompanied by a recitation of a Diwali-themed “Chaupai,” celebrating the festival’s poetic and literary charm. Emphasizing the importance of environmental responsibility, the Principal led students in a discussion on celebrating a Green Diwali, promoting eco-friendly practices that honur both culture and nature.

 In a unique theatrical presentation, students enacted a courtroom scene symbolizing the triumph of virtues over vices, creatively portraying Diwali’s moral message of light overcoming darkness. The event then proceeded to a prize distribution ceremony to honor the school’s achievers, followed by a heartfelt moment where the mothers of these students were invited to the stage, acknowledging the invaluable role of family support in their children’s success.

 The celebration concluded with a vibrant medley of Happy Diwali songs, leaving everyone in high spirits. The Diwali celebration was a resounding success, embodying the values of unity, tradition, and sustainability that Diwali signifies. The Primary Wing of Salwan Public School celebrated Diwali with an array of vibrant activities that brought students, teachers, and mothers together in the festive spirit. The event promoted community and unity, featuring competitions in Rangoli Making, Class Decoration, and Cooking without Fire, where mothers showcased their creativity. The colorful rangoli patterns, delicious snacks, and handcrafted decorations transformed the school into a lively Diwali celebration. Students enthusiastically participated, engaging with their mothers and filling every corner of the school with joy and festive cheer.

Salwan Public School, Gurugram Celebrates Mental Health and Dyslexia Awareness Week- मनोUTSAV

From 10th – 23rd October, 2024, Salwan Public School, Gurugram, observed Mental Health and Dyslexia Awareness Week, conducting a series of activities aimed at promoting mental health awareness and reducing the stigma around mental challenges. The week opened with sessions tailored for different grades: Montessori students learned about safety through the “No-Go-Tell” rule, while younger students attended the “Be Smart, Stay Smart” presentation on safe and unsafe touch. Older students explored topics like emotions, gratitude, friendship, and mental health, with activities ranging from bookmark-making and slogan writing to poster creation on bullying. Grades 7-10 participated in an alumni-led discussion titled “Feeling Matters – Talk About Them,” and Grade 9 conducted a mental health awareness survey. Grades 11-12 attended a session with experts on mental health challenges, encouraging open conversations.

The week continued with a screening of Arthur & Mical for Grades 4-9, which sensitized students to the difficulties faced by individuals with dyslexia. Students in Grades 4 &5 wore red wristbands to symbolize inclusivity, and Grades 6-8 created a board distinguishing myths and facts about dyslexia. Staff also showed solidarity by wearing red. Following this, Grades 6-8 explored the connection between food and mental well-being through a session on diet and positive health. Montessori students engaged in sensory play, and Grade 4 experienced reading challenges to understand dyslexia.

 As the week drew to a close, life skills sessions on kindness and empathy were led by peer educators for Grades 3-5, while Grades 8-9 attended an alumni session on self-expression called “Unmute Yourself.” Grade 11 students ran a social media campaign, creating infographics to responsibly advocate for mental health awareness. The event culminated in a school-wide pledge for mental health and dyslexia awareness, underscoring the importance of compassion and inclusivity in building a supportive community.

MindSparks - प्रकृति 2024: Sparking Environmental Innovation Through Rhythm

On Saturday, 19th October, 2024, Salwan Public School, Gurugram, proudly hosted the Inter-School Science Competition, MindSparks – प्रकृति 2024, an event dedicated to the fusion of innovation, creativity, and sustainability. This year, MindSparks aimed to inspire the young generation to develop gaming solutions for environmental sustainability, drawing schools from across Delhi NCR to participate in the unique and dynamic Rhythm Rap competition.

 Each school sent a team of four students from Classes VI to VIII, representing an assigned scientist’s name. With themes like “Water Whirl: Splash and Save,” “Tree Tribes: Green and Live,” “Climate Crusaders: Carbon Trappers,” and “Planet Protectors: Nature Ninjas,” the participants captivated the audience by creatively breaking down complex scientific concepts through rap. 

The atmosphere buzzed with energy as participants took the stage with passion and talent, combining scientific insight with rhythmic performance. Their innovative raps not only demonstrated their understanding of scientific themes but also their ability to make these ideas resonate with a broader audience. Judges lauded the students’ performances, recognizing their ingenuity, depth of knowledge, and stage presence.

After a series of riveting presentations, participants and judges enjoyed a well-deserved break, eagerly anticipating the results. The event concluded with a valedictory ceremony that celebrated all the participants’ efforts, creativity, and contributions to environmental awareness.

Mindsparks – प्रकृति 2024 proved to be a grand success, sparking a new appreciation for environmental stewardship through the art of rap. It inspired all attendees, encouraging them to think creatively about the future of our planet while fostering a spirit of teamwork, collaboration, and innovation.

Uniting Strength, Skill, and Spirit – NCC Annual Training Camp 2024

The NCC Annual Training Camp 2024, held under 5 HAR BN NCC, Gurugram from 7th to 16th October at Universal Public School, Pataudi, was an enriching journey for cadets and ANO T/O Vishal Kaushik. From our school, a total of 650 cadets participated in the training camp. The camp aimed to develop discipline, teamwork, and leadership skills through a well-structured program of physical training, skill-building sessions and competitive events.

 The camp commenced with an inspiring address by Camp Commanding Officer Col. Sandeep Singh Aulakh, sparking enthusiasm among cadets. Each day was marked by early morning PT and yoga, followed by training activities like ‘rifle handling’ and ‘firing practice’ at NSG Centre Manesar, where cadets interacted with NSG Commandos, further enhancing their confidence. Sessions on disaster management, map reading, CPR, and first aid enriched the cadets’ understanding of practical and life-saving skills. A guest lecture on ‘Drone Technology’ provided a glimpse into modern applications, adding a unique learning experience.

 Our cadets impressed in the final cultural program, where they performed a Nukkad Natak on farmers’ issues and a lively dance, earning special recognition. Their outstanding sports achievements included second position in Volleyball (Girls Team) and Kabaddi (Boys Team), first in Kho-Kho (Girls Team), and second in Kho-Kho (Mixed Team). Siddhi Sharma (JW) won 1st in Best Drill and Prisha Nagpal (JW) took 3rd position in debate, showcasing leadership and commitment.

 The camp posed physical and mental challenges, reinforcing values of resilience, communication, and teamwork. As they returned with new friendships, strengthened discipline, and fresh confidence, our cadets were left inspired and well-prepared for future challenges.

Salwan Public School Welcomes Brigadier Umesh Singh Bawa for Veer Gatha 4.0 Celebration

On 15th October 2024, Salwan Public School, Gurugram, had the privilege of hosting Brigadier Umesh Singh Bawa, VrC, SM, as part of the Veer Gatha Project 4.0, an initiative aimed at promoting the stories of gallantry awardees among students by Ministry of Defence, Government of India. The programme was witnessed by more than 10,000 students across the district and students from our and other government and private schools asked questions about the life of army professionals. The event commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, symbolizing the spread of knowledge and enlightenment, followed by a welcome speech from the school’s Principal, Ms. Rashmi Malik, who emphasized the importance of instilling patriotism in young minds through this project. Brigadier Bawa then addressed the students, sharing remarkable stories from the Kargil War, highlighting moments of extraordinary bravery. He also spoke about the Indian Army’s core values, explaining the significance of “Naam, Namak, and Nishaan” (honour, loyalty, and emblem) in a soldier’s life. The students were deeply moved by his accounts of courage, especially an instance where he caught fire near the enemy line but continued to lead with valor. After the talk, an engaging Question & Answer session followed, where students from Salwan Public School and others who joined virtually had the opportunity to interact with Brigadier Bawa. His thoughtful responses offered profound lessons on patriotism, determination, and the ethos of the armed forces. The event concluded with remarks by the school’s Director, Maj. Gen Surinder Singh, AVSM, SM, VSM (Retd.), who expressed his gratitude to Brigadier Bawa for his inspiring presence. The school also successfully submitted class-wise entries for the Veer Gatha Project 4.0 on the MyGov platform, featuring poems, paintings, posters, and multimedia presentations. The event was a resounding success, leaving the students inspired and more connected to the values of bravery and loyalty exemplified by the Indian Armed Forces.
