Salwan Education Trust (SET) takes great pride in commemorating ‘Samman Diwas’, an annual feature of the Trust, to pay glowing tribute to the valiant soldiers of the Indian Armed Forces who stand guard against all odds, so that we can live and lead a safe and happy life with our families. In This regard, Salwan Public School, Sector-15, Gurugram celebrated Samman Diwas and also organised Blood Donation Camp to salute the ultimate valour and sacrifice of the Armed Forces on Saturday, 30 November 2019. The Chief Guest and the Guest of Honour of this iconic event were Hon’ble Mr. M. M. Naravane, PVSM, AVSM, SM, VSM- Vice-Chief of the Army staff and Lt. Gen. R. S. Grewal, AVSM, VSM-President’s Honorary Surgeon respectively.
The event was attended by Chairman Emeritus, Trustees, Management Committee Members, PTA Members, Directors , Principals of sister schools and the Parents. The program commenced with the wreath laying Ceremony by the Chief Guest on the pious Amar Jawan Jyoti. The program also included a felicitation ceremony in which as many as 15 decorated personalities across the country were honoured. The audience witnessed and appreciated the scintillating cultural performance by the students propagating the message of love and peace. Chairman (SET) Mr. Sushil Dutt Salwan took to stage and cordially welcomed the elite gathering and expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the armed forces and hailed the tremendous contribution of the guardians of the frontiers. The Chairman (SET) informed that ever since the Kargil war, the school under the sagacious guidance of Hon’ble Chairman Emeritus (SET) Sh. Shiv Dutt Salwan, has decided to celebrate Samman Diwas every year and send its student-contingent annually to places like Kargil, Roorkee and naval docks so as to impress upon the young minds to aim for the coveted armed services.
In addition to this, an exhibition displaying the famous Black pottery of Nizamabad, Azamgarh (U.P.), handlooms of Mubarakpur, Azamgarh (U.P.) and Madhubani Art of Mithila (Bihar) was also organised under the Tribal, Rural and Urban Empowerment (TRUE) program in association with ITRHD to revive the age-old Indian legacy and to empower the artisans’ community. Towards the end, the Chief Guest, in his splendid address, exhorted the students to look for a lucrative career of their preference and give it their all to realise their dreams. His lavishing praise on the smooth conduct and likening it with ‘military precision’ was a strong testimony of the success of the event that was being live-streamed on the facebook page for the away audience. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks followed by the National Anthem.
