Salwan Public School, Gurugram celebrated World Health Day with great zeal on 6 April 2023.  A special assembly was organised in the school for grade I and II where students were apprised about the significance of eating fruits, vegetables and nutritious food. A Nukkad Natak shedding light on the benefits of healthy eating habits was also presented by teachers. The students learnt about healthy eating habits, the importance of sports and exercise and pledged to imbibe all these values in their lives.

Havan Ceremony

Heralding a new beginning with renewed hopes and aspirations, a Havan ceremony was performed in the E Block foyer area of Salwan Public School, Gurugram on April 3, 2023 to mark the commencement of the new academic session 2023-2024. The ceremony was performed to seek the blessings of the Almighty for a successful year ahead. The programme commenced on an auspicious note with the chanting of Gayatri mantra and holy shlokas. The school ambience was filled with an air of spirituality, gaiety and pious aroma. The Principal, the students and the teachers prayed reverently to the Almighty for wisdom, courage and determination to always be righteous in their words and deeds. The ceremony ended on an optimistic note for a bright future with the distribution of Prasad.

Educational Trip To Pondicherry

Salwan Public School, Gurugram and Sri Aurobindo Society organised an educational trip to Pondicherry from 2 April 2023 to 6 April 2023. A team of 15 students from Grade X and XII along with two teachers Mr. Ashish Singh and Ms. Neha Taneja and Mr. K.C. Seghi , the Founder Chairman of Sri Aurobindo Society, Gurugram were a part of this trip. The trip aimed to enable personal growth of students, develop the power of self-introspection, learn to appreciate the beauty of nature, engage oneself in nature’s immersive activity and determine the higher aim of life.  

Students were enlightened to use the elements of nature, to go on frequent nature walks and reflect on how things and environment guide us. Meditating in silence and concentrating before eating food were also taught.  

The serene and peaceful atmosphere encouraged the students to explore the beauty of nature and read the writings of Sri Aurobindo and The Mother.

Keeping up with the educational requirements, Salwan Public School, Gurugram organised an International Exchange Programme with The Feng Yuan High School of Taiwan in session 2023-23. The program was designed to enable student learning at a whole different level. It aimed to get them out of their comfort zone and experience enhanced learning along with personal growth.

The exchange was conducted in various phases beginning with mutually deciding the theme and plan of action of the projects by the students of both the schools. The exchange took place through mails and online interaction. After a few brainstorming sessions, ‘Environment-Invest in our Planet’ was the theme decided for discussion and further action. Four projects related to the theme were undertaken. Pupils collaborated in compact teams of eight. Each group’s aims and indicators were listed separately. They collaborated and used projects and PowerPoint presentations to put their lessons into practice.

After a number of online sessions, the culmination session was conducted on April 21, 2023 where in each group of both the schools presented their work through power point presentations and had questionnaire rounds to understand the concept better. The Taiwanese spoke about sustainable development objectives and displayed movies demonstrating how waste is disposed of in their nation. They shared their ideas for creating things that could be recycled and used again, such as pinball machines and plastic plants that utilise tampons. The students from India also contributed their ideas of papier-mâché coasters, bookcases, vertical gardens, planters, and paintings by Madhubani and Warli.

Overall, the students had a great time learning a lot about how they can help protect the environment.

The Exchange Programme offered an additional chance to view the globe, gain a new viewpoint, and feel another culture while in school.

Inter-Salwan Heritage Quiz

With an objective of promoting interest and curiosity among students to learn and appreciate the history, tourism and the vast cultural heritage of our country, Salwan Public School, Gurugram, organised an Inter-School Heritage Quiz Competition for the students of classes IX-XII on Tuesday, 18th April 2023.

Students of sister branches were also part of the quiz. This event aimed at providing a unique opportunity for students to comprehend the connection between their culture, heritage, and the need for sustainable socio-economic development in the modern world. In addition to helping students prepare for the CBSE Heritage Quiz Competition, the quiz helped expand their knowledge and encouraged them to stay ahead of the curve. Following the Salwan Education Trust’s tradition of inviting distinguished individuals to motivate and inspire the students, the renowned quiz master and TV anchor Mr. Ajay Poonia was invited to conduct the quiz in his engaging and entertaining delivery style, adding more value to the event. Students celebrated the day with great zeal and enthusiasm.
