Earth Day Celebration: Earth day was celebrated on 20 April
2012. To make the children aware of the importance of keeping our
planet healthy and clean. On that day, the children made promises
to help the environment and make positive changes in their
community. The children of each class put up presentations like
‘Save the Earth’ , ‘Go Green’, ‘Reduce, Reuse and Recycle’
Activities like special assembly, Litter less lunch, School yard
clean up and planting trees were undertaken.
Skit on Values: Children’s lifelong values are determined
at an early age. To make the children aware of the values, skits
were presented by each class and the teachers demonstrated the
same through a puppet show.
Welcome Party: A welcome party was organised to make all
the new children feel comfortable and wanted. The party helped to
break the ice as the older children mingled with the newcomers and
made them feel at home. After a sumptuous lunch, the children
enjoyed themselves by dancing to some foot tapping music.
Mother’s Day Celebration: Mother’s day was celebrated to
honour the special creation of God. The mothers were invited to
participate in an array of competitions like Ikebana, Cooking
without fire and Display-board decoration. The mothers
participated with a lot of enthusiasm and zeal.

Yogathan:
Yogathan, an Art of Living Initiative, which was organized on
World Health Day, 7 April 2012, in the morning assembly, has
immensely helped in the progress of the school. It has helped the
students in their emotional, physical and mental well-being. It
has also helped create awareness in the students about Yoga and
Surya Namaskar.
Visit to Parle Bisuit Factory:
A group of 35 students of commerce section, Class XII visited the
Parle Biscuit Factory at Bahadurgrah on 5 May 2012
along with two teachers. It was an attempt to make the students
understand the process of production. Students observed the work
ethics: division of labour, process of production, responsibility
and discipline with great enthusiasm. Students also enjoyed an
interactive session with the people there. It was a great learning
experience which enhanced their knowledge.
Red Cross Day Celebration:
Red Cross Day was celebrated in school premises on 8 May 2012.
Children performed a small skit and highlighted the importance of
first-aid. They learnt how to tackle an emergency before going to
a doctor. Children were encouraged to play an important role in
saving life.
Visited the ‘Arya Mahila Ashram’:
23 students alongwith 2 teachers of Salwan Girls Sr. Sec. School
visited the ‘Arya Mahila Ashram’ in New Rajinder Nagar on 30 April
2012. This visit was an attempt to sensitize the students towards
the need of the old women who had to live alone; away from their
family or friends. By interacting with them, the students gained
an insight into their daily routine and also understood the code
of conduct one should follow to deal with their elders. In today’s
world where nuclear family has become the trend of the day, such a
meeting can be very healthy and leave a positive impact on the
young minds. Our students had taken small gifts for the women.
They were overwhelmed with the love and respect displayed by the
students. Many of our students chatted with the women and even
became emotional. It was an enriching experience for us.
A Trip to Nainital:
Salwan Girls School organized a trip to Nainital from 5th
June to 8th June’2012 for 43 students from Classes VIII
to XII. Meritorious students were given special discount and
toppers were taken free of cost.
The trip was designed to give the students an
opportunity to develop skills, confidence, love for nature and
feeling of responsibility. Children had a divine experience when
they visited Garjia temple at Jim Corbett. They also visited Jim
Corbett Museum and watched a movie on the Jim Corbett National
Park. Then they have an actual feel of nature when they went on
Jungle Safari. They learnt the importance of wild life and its
conservation. They also came to know the importance of team-work
and discipline in their lives. They visited Naina Devi Temple and
enjoyed shopping and boating in Naini Lake. A camp fire was an
added thrill for the students. The purpose of the trip holistic
development was fully achieved.
Hum Panchee Unmukt Gagan ke Pinjar Band Na Ga
Payenge:
This line truly depicts the feeling of children. Stress-free,
joyful learning and freedom of expression, is the wish of every
child. Children experienced happiness and magic of Yoga in a
four-day workshop held in the school auditorium in the month of
April’2012 for Classes VI to X. In the workshop, children carried
out activities like Yoga, magic of breath, dance, laughter-therapy
and role enactment and rediscovered themselves and bounced back to
studies with greater zeal and enthusiasm.
N.C.C.:
52 cadets participated in the CATC’12 at Army Parade Ground from
19 June 2012 to 28 June 2012. Cadets actively participated in all
the activities organized during the camp, like P.T, Marching
Drill; theory classes on different topics like map-reading etc,
and cultural events like group-song, solo-song, group-dance,
group-song etc. Priyanka of Class IX-B bagged the second position
in solo-song.
Sahitya Kala Parishad:
Sahitya Kala Parishad conducted a one month workshop on Dance in
the summer vacation. The girls of the school were trained in
various dance-forms.
Shaimak Davar Summer Funk-2012:
35 students of our school from Classes VI to XI were trained by
Shaimak Davar group during summer vacation. Their talent was
showcased at Shaimak’s Summer Funk-2012- a glittering event
organized at Siri Fort Auditorium on 15 June 2012. The
Dance form was Bollywood Jazz, which was highly applauded by the
audience.

Science Festival:
Students of Class XII attended the Science festival on 13 July
2012. INSPIRE, held at Miranda College. It enlightened the pupils
about the recent projects and developments in the field of
Science.

SPICMACAY:
- The 27th National spicmacay convention was held at
Mangalore from 26 June -5 July. A group of 11 students
along with Ms Shobha Baneerji attended the convention representing
Salwan Public School. They attended workshops on Classical music,
dance, crafts, leather work and puppetery during their stay. The
Session for Yoga proved an enriching experience for the children.
They were also awarded certificates of appreciation.
Disaster Management Programme:
As part of disaster management programme of the school, a mock
drill was performed on 12 July 2012 to train the students in the
evacuation process.

on Photography:
Workshop on photograph was conducted by Mr. Puneet Kumar and his
asst. Obr. Rohan from “Times of India”. The Resource person shared
his knowledge and expertise with the students about:

How
should we clean our camera?
How
should we hold the camera while clicking the pictures?
How can
we get good images and avoid blur images?
What
all things are taken care of while purchasing a new camera?

Orientation Program for Happy Days School Teachers (M.P.):
It was four days orientation program. The session was conducted by
CBSE resource person on various topics like Continuous and
Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) & Examination Policy, Office
Management, HRD (Admission, Recruitment & Reception), Student
Council, Accreditation & Library Management, Transportation,
School Management System, Purchase of Goods, Security, Curriculum
Development(Primary), Phonics, Vision & Mission of School.
An outing was an
added attraction for the teachers after the days programme.
Art and
Photography Camp:
An Art and Photography camp was organised by Empowerment and
Indian Council for Cultural Relations from 20 March to 23 March,
2012 at Jim Corbett National Park. About 30 students from classes
VIII to XI participated. It was a three days program.
Farewell of
class XII (2011-2012):
The Class XII Batch 2011-2012 farewell was organized on 16 April
2012. Almost 200 students turned up for this exciting event. A
talent hunt round was conducted for Class XII students followed by
a dance by Class XI. Gravit Gupta was declared ‘Mr. Salwan’ and
Sarika Sanjay as ‘Miss Salwan’.
International
Life Skills School Health & Wellbeing Summit-2012:
Held on April 2012, at India Islamic Culture Centre. The Program
was organized by CBSE in collaboration with Expressions India. It
was a two days program. The highlights of the program were:
On the
first
day-
·Students
took part in 2-minute elocution, the topic for which was to be
pulled out from a box.
·Mascot
‘Tarini’ Designed By Ms. Poonam Chauhan (Our Art & Craft Faculty)
and Sculpted in Fiber Glass by Sculptor Mr. Gurucharan Singh.
·A
youth parliament much like the original parliament was also
organized and the students discussed their issues with a panel of
learned personnel. Topics, like applying life skills to everyday
life to ensure better wellbeing of students; importance of staying
healthy; and even the role of CCE in busting stress amongst
students, were discussed.
·The
Final event was the Wellbeing Quiz, involving topics like
Adolescence Health Issues, facts about the human body etc.
·Our
school also put up a stall, showcasing the products of the Art &
Craft and the Home Science Faculties. Articles by students were
put up on the stall for people to read along with copies of the
School Publications.
The second Day was planned for ‘Dilli Darshan’. Students
and teachers, set out for Qutub Minar, Lotus Temple, Humayun’s
Tomb, The Parliament Museum to experience magical moment.
NIE Workshop:
NIE Workshop on ‘Robotics’ was conducted by Ms. Swati Sharma from
ENTERCES Space Lab. The resource person showed slides related to
the topic that reflected on the history of Robots. Students tried
to identify the different components used in making of a
particular robot. The resource person also conducted brainstorming
session for the students which enlightened them with the latest
technologies available in the market. She also invited students to
play games using robots and familiarized them with the latest
trend.
Career Counselling Program:
Career
Counselling Program was organized for class XI students and their
parents on 31 March 2012, the highlights of the program were:

play on self awareness by class XII students.
·Session
by Mr. Jatin Chawla on choice of subjects.
·In-house
exhibition put up by different streams.
·Stall
put by outside agencies. (NBRC, IGNOU, Ansals & Myadmission info.)
·Sessions
and visits were organized for students of class XI of different
streams (Science, Commerce, Humanities).

2nd Delhi State Tong-IL Moo-Do Martial Art
Championship- team of 25 students participated in the
championship, won 4 Gold, 3 Silver, and 7 Bronze, medals and
qualified for National Championship too.
These winners went for
3rd National
Junior Tong-IL-Moo-Do Martial Art Championship- 2012 held from 19 to
21 May 2012 at Bakshi Stadium, Srinagar (J&K) and bagged two Gold,
two Silver and two Bronze medals.
6th UP State Roller Skating Championship
– Four students participated in the competition at Ryan
International School and won 5 Gold, 1 Silver, and 2 Bronze medals
and qualified for National championship.
National Roller Skating Touranament 2012:
The winners bagged 4 Gold & 2 Silver medals in “National Roller
Skating Touranament 2012 at National Level held on 1 & 3 June
2012 at Wankheda Stadium, Aurangabad, Maharashtra.
