SPS Under-15 Team vs. Push Sports Cricket Academy: A Friendly Match

 SPS RN’s Under-15 team played in the true spirit of cricket against the Push Sports Cricket Academy on 27 April. The Academy team scored a strong 153 runs, while the SPS squad showed great competitive spirit and reached a score of 140 runs in their allotted overs.

Samar Juneja from SPS, Rajendra Nagar was acknowledged as the Fighter of the Match for his outstanding performance. The game showcased great sportsmanship and camaraderie. Online scoring kept parents updated, and the entire SPS community cheered on their young athletes with pride. It was a memorable day of cricket and community spirit.

Inter-Salwan Science and Innovation Fest 2024 Nurturing Future Innovators and Scientists

The students of SPS RN made the school proud with their ingenuity and creativity at the Inter-Salwan Science and Innovation Fest 2024, organised by Salwan Public School, Trans Delhi Signature City on 9 April 2024. They excelled in various competitions, securing top positions.

Visit to IUAC Centre - Nuclear Science Centre

The students who had qualified for VVM Delhi 2023-24 State Camp had the opportunity to visit a special one-day laboratory organised by VVM on 6th April 2024 at the Inter-University Accelerator Centre (IUAC), New Delhi.

IUAC, formerly known as the Nuclear Science Centre, was established by the University Grants Commission and stands as India’s inaugural Inter-University Centre (IUC). It is dedicated to fostering

innovation and enhancing capacity in accelerator-driven research, making it the nation’s foremost laboratory for university researchers. Participating in an event at this prestigious laboratory gave students a unique chance to interact with scientist and experience world-class research facilities.

Lalit Kala Akademi's International Art Carnival

The students and teachers of SPS RN had an opportunity to visit Lalit Kala Akademi International Art Carnival on 19th April 2024 organised by Delhi College of Art. The students interacted with renowned artists and learnt about their techniques and life experiences that truly inspired the budding artists and broadened their perspectives on art.

Eminent Russian artist, Ludmilla Chakrabarty’s presence was particularly significant, offering insights into the challenges and triumphs of being an artist. The event showcased masterpieces from artists around the world, giving everyone a glimpse into the diverse and vibrant world of art.

National IDE Bootcamp

Sharvil Rai, student of Class XII, and Dr. Shilpa Raghuvanshi Chauhan, PGT Biotechnology, had the opportunity to attend National IDE Bootcamp organised by AICTE, School Innovation Council, MoE’s Innovation Cell, NCERT, and the Ministry of Education on 9 and 10 April 2024. The programme focused on developing innovation, design thinking, and entrepreneurship, providing valuable skills such as identifying market needs, developing business models, and effective pitching. The school project “Socks Pairing Device for Visually Impaired,” has received funding from the Ministry of Education, Government of India. Under the guidance of Dr. Shilpa Raghuvanshi Chauhan, students Sharvil Rai, Navya Sharma, and Riddhimaa Digpaul demonstrated their commitment to using robotics for societal benefit.

World Heritage Day

Salwan Public School, Rajendra Nagar organised the Heritage Day Special Assembly on 19 April 2024 for Classes XI-XII to instil a sense of pride and appreciation for our cultural heritage. Through a blend of poetic recitals, oath-taking, songs, and tribal dance performances, the aim was to inspire students to preserve and cherish their rich cultural legacy.

The event commenced with a solemn oath-taking ceremony wherein students pledged their commitment to preserving and promoting their heritage. The oath served as a poignant reminder of their responsibility to safeguard the cultural treasures passed down through generations. Enthralling musical performances infused the assembly with rhythm and melody. The highlight of the event was the vibrant tribal dance showcase, featuring mesmerising performances that celebrated the tribal heritage and iconic figures of subaltern history. The event served as a catalyst for raising awareness about the importance of preserving our heritage among the younger generation. 

Interaction with eminent Author, Paro Anand

Salwan Education Trust organised an interactive session with a prolific author, Ms Paro Anand for young Salwanians on 23 April 2024 at Salwan Public School, Rajendra Nagar. It was also attended by several students from schools under the aegis of Salwan Education Trust. The session commenced with a green welcome extended to Ms Paro Anand by Ms Mukul Jha, Director Training, SET.

The event aimed to inspire young minds and foster a love for reading and storytelling. Students had the privilege of engaging with the renowned author, known for her captivating storytelling and impactful narratives.

Ms Anand began the session by discussing the essence of the story. She delighted the audience with anecdotes from her own life and stories from her books. She read excerpts from her books “Like Smoke”, “Wingless,” captivating the audience with her storytelling skills. The participants actively participated in a Q&A session, wherein they had the opportunity to ask questions about her writing style, life experiences, inspiration, and themes of her books.

In her closing remarks, Ms Paro Anand emphasised that even in situations where they may feel helpless, such as instances of bullying, they always have the power to do something.  She motivated the students to continue reading and writing, reminding them that their stories have the power to make a difference in the world. The session with Ms Paro Anand was both enlightening and inspiring for the young learners.

Salwanians shine at MUN

The students of SPS RN participated in Model United Nations (MUN) organised by  Gyan Bharti School, Saket on 20 and 21 April,2024. The following students brought laurels by bagging remarkable positions through their valuable contribution:

  • Jaskaran Singh Gumar of class XII H bagged the Best Delegate Award along with a cash prize of Rs. 5000.
  • Riddhimaa Digpaul of class XI F and Maanik Ahuja of class XII D received Special Mention Medals, for their impressive performances.

Celebrating Success: Six Students Qualify for MVPP-2023-24 Scholarship

 Six students from SPS Rajendra Nagar qualified for the Mukhyamantri Vigyan Pratibha Pariksha (MVPP) 2023-24 scholarship. MVPP is a competitive exam conducted by the Science Branch of the Directorate of Education  in Delhi. The aim is to identify and nurture the talents in the field of Science. Each year, our students consistently bring pride and accolades to the school.

Budding Golfer of SPS RN

Vedant Jain, student of class XI, emerged as Golf Champion in the Greens To Glory Junior Golf Tournament held on March 27-28, 2024, at the ITC Classic Golf & Country Club in Gurugram. Vedant has qualified for Junior Africa Challenge 2024 in South Africa and the PPTV International tournament in Bangkok, Thailand.

In his debut international tournament, US Kids Thailand Championship, Vedant showcased an impressive performance, securing the 5th position in the Boys 15-18 years category, competing against golfers from across the globe.

SDG Activities Showcase

The Missing Piece: Empowering Student Voices for Mental Health Awareness

 

The Psychology Department at Salwan Public School, Rajendra Nagar, hosted SDG Showcase event on April 19, 2024, titled ‘The Missing Piece: Empowering Student Voices for Mental Health Awareness’. Ms Deepika Bhandari, the DE Nominee of the school, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

The program centred around a panel discussion featuring Mental Health Expert Dr. Radhika Goel, Ms Shelza (TGT English), and two Class XII Psychology students, Simar Nanda and Gurbani Kaur. The discussion aimed to kickstart the SDG agenda for 2024, focusing on the integration of mental well-being and quality education. Panellists emphasised initiating conversations among students about mental health issues, academic pressure, cultural sensitivity, collaboration, empowerment, and resilience.

The interactive session provided a platform for students to voice their concerns regarding balancing mental well-being and academic pursuits. The event also presented an interactive activity stall by Class XII students of Psychology, offering games and activities to raise awareness about mental health among the guests, teachers, and students.It was a great learning experience for the participants.

A session on ‘The future beyond Chat GPT and AI’

A session on the topic “The Future Beyond Chat GPT” was organised by SPS RN for the students of Classes XI and XII on 10 April 2024 by Mr. Lokesh Mishra, a distinguished alumnus of the school. He discussed the future beyond Chat GPT, emphasising the diverse and ever-changing realm of AI, which presents both challenges and opportunities for human progress, development, and discovery. The students were apprised of the evolving interaction between humans and technology that requires thoughtful reflection on ethical, social, and existential consequences. 

The presentation was an enlightening experience for students, offering them a glimpse into a new world scenario. They actively engaged with Mr. Mishra, asking questions and drawing connections to their own experiences.
